At the Oct. 21 meeting the council administered the oath of office to Police Officer Michael Cypriani (badge 504). Captain Akabo and other department leaders introduced the new officer and described his background — education at Middlesex County College, previous juvenile corrections work, service at the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department and his family ties to the area. Attendees included Union County Detective Chief Harvey Barnwell and retired Captain Kevin White.
The council also presented proclamations honoring Allan Riley and Gary Wagner, each recognized for 50 years of volunteer service with the Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad. The mayor praised their long-term commitment, and both honorees spoke briefly to thank the township and the community. The council invited squad members to a small reception following the meeting.
The meeting record shows applause and public appreciation; no formal action was required beyond the oath and proclamations.
