Oak Park MAC recommends $25,000 for Kanan Shuttle, approves CSA #4 draft budget

The council then voted, on a separate motion by McReynolds and seconded by von Schneidau, to recommend a $25,000 allocation for the Kanan Shuttle contingent on Board of Supervisors approval and contingent on Recreation Services (RSRPD) contributing $25,000 and the Oak Park Unified School District (OPUSD) contributing $50,000; the motion specified the shuttle must remain free to riders.
Why it matters: the Kanan Shuttle has been presented as a free local transit option for Oak Park residents and students; securing local contributions and county approval are necessary to maintain service and avoid fares. Robert von Schneidau told the council OPUSD had agreed to contribute $50,000 toward shuttle expenses if MAC provided matching support.
