The Mount Kisco Architectural Review Board approved amended signage for a local dealership that will add Hummer branding to building and pylon signs, and recommended design adjustments to better integrate multiple product lines.
Owner Adrian Quinn and signmaker Stuart Matel explained the dealership's need to identify Chevrolet, Cadillac and Hummer on the storefront; Matel said General Motors requires product names on the building. The board discussed tying the various product signs together so they read as a single composition across the building corner. One compromise was to leave the front elevation largely as-is, put some product signage on the building side near the service entrance, and replace the pylon Oldsmobile sign with Hummer. The board accepted the amended proposal; Hummer letters will be face-lit channel letters (black by day, red when illuminated) and the Mt. Kisco sign will remain blue and illuminated.
Ms. Abramson moved to accept the proposal as amended; Mrs. Chadwick seconded and the board voted all ayes. The board recommended matching elevations and cohesive placement for signage wrapping around the corner to maintain architectural coherence.
