Bangor School Board approves district ACP/E4E plan to meet Wisconsin DPI requirement

“Hannah Schultz, the school counselor for grades 6–12, told the board the ACP is a cyclical roadmap that helps students explore careers and plan postsecondary options. The plan responds to a state mandate that districts provide formal plans for students’ postsecondary choices,” the counselors said during a presentation. Schultz noted that roughly 40% of the class of 2025 entered the workforce directly rather than continuing formal education, and said the ACP is intended to serve those students as well as college-bound learners.
Presenters described several concrete elements of the district plan. The ACP leadership team will meet monthly, the district will designate one Tuesday per month as an ACP activity day during Cardinal time, and the district plans to assign each student a four-year ACP mentor to follow progress from freshman year through graduation. The plan also calls for a Cardinal capstone portfolio for seniors and use of Zello (the state’s career-exploration platform) as the primary portfolio and tracking tool.
Administrators confirmed the ACP draft was reviewed with CISA 4 partners (named in the presentation as Christy Tainter and Amanda Langanger) prior to the board meeting. Once the board approved the plan, presenters said staff would work with the district website manager (Miss Ryel, named in the presentation) to publish the plan and declare the district compliant with the DPI requirement.
During Q&A, board members asked about student input and mentoring ratios; presenters said the district plans to involve the student leadership team for feedback and estimated current Cardinal time groups run about 12–15 students per teacher, with summer curricular hours budgeted to refine scheduling and mentor assignments.
Board member Lisa moved to approve the ACP/E4E plan as presented; the motion was seconded and approved (motion carried). The presenters said next steps include summer curriculum work to finalize lesson plans and implementation planning for the coming school year.
