CCRPC announces trainings, grants, convenings and procedural guidance

Members of the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission’s Planning Advisory Committee used the meeting’s members items and other business slots to share upcoming events, trainings and guidance.
Charles Dillard announced a Plan BTV open house on April 30 at Main Street Landing, part of a consolidated update that combines the comprehensive plan with parks, transportation and economic development elements. Taylor Newton said CCRPC will host a Regional Housing Convening on April 29 at Main Street Landing featuring speakers from New Hampshire about changing the local housing conversation. Paul Conner reported that South Burlington launched online permitting and development review software the day before the meeting.
On other business, Newton asked members to send information about Act 250 and Section 248 projects on the horizon; he observed the number of major applications CCRPC reviews has declined from about 10–12 per year to roughly 2–3 per year. Newton also relayed recent Land Use Review Board guidance clarifying that interim Act 250 exemptions will not expire upon CCRPC's plan approval (contrary to prior staff guidance). He announced a new zoning administrator/planner training on June 3 (1–4 p.m.) and noted Greening Schools for Arbor Day grants are available for schools in Chittenden and Addison counties, with applications due April 15, 2026.
