The Waukesha City Information Technology Board conducted its annual leadership elections and several routine staff briefings at its May 6 meeting.
During the member-nomination process the board nominated Paul Fabian for vice chair and Daniel Manion for chair. A motion to elect Paul Fabian as vice chair and Daniel Manion as chair was moved, seconded and approved by unanimous roll call.
In communications, staff reminded the board that the federal deadline for municipal website accessibility compliance was pushed back one year. The chair and staff said the city had already purchased accessibility software and would continue implementation despite the extension of the compliance timeline.
Chris (city staff) reported a global Microsoft Defender false-positive on Sunday that flagged DigiCert root certificates and generated numerous alerts across servers and laptops. Microsoft issued an update to Defender that unflagged the false positives; staff said the incident exposed some communications issues with the city's managed security provider that they will address.
Staff also discussed potential meeting scheduling: without pressing agenda items the board may cancel its June meeting and revisit items in July or August when CIP planning resumes. The chair adjourned the meeting after confirming no objections.
