Staff told the board they received four qualified bids and recommended the low bidder despite the amount coming in slightly over the project's budget. "The low bid came in from Next Electric in the amount of $1,277,724.5 and that is what we are recommending moving forward with," a staff member said, adding that savings from other projects would cover the overage.
Kevin Riley moved to accept the low bid; the motion was seconded and the board approved the award with recorded aye votes.
Staff said construction will proceed under the city's standard oversight and that the award advances the utility upgrades planned for Deer Trails and Fox Lake Village. No schedule or contract start date was specified at the meeting.
