Union County sheriff tells Plain City Council he will continue local partnerships, notes SRT leadership and staffing needs

Union County Sheriff Mike Justice visited the Plain City Council meeting on Feb. 24 to reaffirm interagency coordination and describe operational partnerships between the county sheriff’s office and the village.
Justice told council he intends to maintain the communication he promised during his campaign and described ongoing collaborations: the village will continue using county dispatching services and the sheriff’s firearm training range under a written agreement to be implemented "in the near future," formalizing arrangements that have been in place for about eight years.
He also said Detective Greenbaum and Sergeant Howard of the Plain City Police Department will continue to serve on the county Drug Task Force and Special Response Team (SRT). Justice noted that Sergeant Howard was recently selected to lead the county SRT — the first time an external agency member has been named team leader — and praised Howard’s qualifications.
Justice added that the sheriff’s office is filling three open deputy positions; recruitment and background work are underway, he said. Council members thanked Justice and congratulated Sergeant Howard for his leadership role.
What’s next: Justice said a written range-use agreement will be implemented soon; council and staff will receive follow-up information when that agreement is available.
