CCRPC committee recommends draft FY2021 UPWP and budget to board

The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission Joint Executive & Finance Committee unanimously recommended the draft FY2021 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) and budget to the full Board at its remote meeting on May 6, 2020.
Charlie Baker, CCRPC executive director, said the draft UPWP and budget had been recommended by the UPWP Committee and that a few projects flagged in the document (highlighted in pink/salmon) may be removed when the Board considers the package if those projects are completed in the current fiscal year. Catherine McMains, chair of the UPWP Committee, told members she was pleased with the committee's discussions and that the process worked for participants.
Chris Roy moved and John Zicconi seconded the motion that the Executive Committee recommend the draft FY2021 UPWP and budget to the Board for approval; the motion carried unanimously.
Why it matters: The UPWP sets staff work priorities and the Commission's budget for the coming year; recommending the draft to the Board moves the formal adoption process forward ahead of the June meeting when officers will be elected.
Members also discussed risk management related to projects and the expectation that staff will present a finalized package to the Board that reflects any projects removed or adjusted. The committee did not take a final adoption vote; it forwarded the recommendation to the Board for action at a later meeting.
Next steps: The Executive Committee's approved recommendation will be placed on the May 20 Board meeting agenda for Board review and potential approval.
