The Environmental Review Board on Monday reviewed an application from Amazing Shine Detailing LLC to use roughly 1,600 square feet of a 5,200-square-foot building for automotive detailing and storage.
The chair said the applicant indicated only two employees would work at the site and that the business would not alter the building footprint, but board members raised questions about environmental safeguards and occupancy documentation. “We need more information on the chemicals being used and where the discharge is going,” the chair said, asking staff to confirm the destination of existing floor drains and whether they connect to septic, daylight or a treatment system.
Members noted the property report showed a 750-gallon septic tank and cautioned that salt or grease discharged to a septic field could damage the system. The board recommended the applicant confirm the certificate of occupancy covers the rear space or submit a change-of-use determination from the building inspector.
The panel also asked the applicant to document whether an oil-water separator or other pretreatment is planned before any floor-drain discharge, and to update employee counts and parking plans on the submitted site drawings. No formal action was taken; the board requested the additional details to inform future review.
