At its June 10 meeting the Yuma Union High School District governing board approved consent items and a package of routine and operational actions, accepting donations, revising fees and authorizing intergovernmental agreements.
Donations: The board accepted a month's donations to multiple campuses, including monetary gifts, equipment and in-kind services. Staff reported total monthly donations in the packet and the board voted to accept them (motion by Christie, seconded by Shelley).
Fees and rentals: The board approved the 2026'27 student fee schedule and a revision to facility rental fees that organizes users into classes (for example, nonprofits versus for-profit organizations) and clarifies personnel charges such as custodial or security overtime. Facilities staff said intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) with cities typically waive facility fees but still require payment for personnel costs when district staff are needed.
Personnel and handbooks: The board approved the YUHSD employee handbook (coaching staff were folded into the employee handbook rather than a separate coaches manual), materials for the teacher-evaluation system, and a substitute-pay schedule update. The board also approved a reclassification converting an existing HR specialist position into a benefits coordinator rather than adding new headcount, after staff clarified the funding source.
Intergovernmental agreements and elections: The board approved an IGA with the City of Yuma for school resource officers through the Yuma Police Department and separately approved an IGA with Yuma County Election Services. Staff explained election costs are charged only when contested ballots are required and that uncontested seats generally incur no county election charge.
