Warwick board approves appointments, events and contracts; hears paving and infrastructure updates

The Warwick Town Board on June 11 approved several routine resolutions and heard updates on town infrastructure and programs.
Resolutions and motions carried by voice vote included appointments of summer lifeguards (Adian Corbalis and Keegan Armistad), approval of alcohol permits at town park rental facilities (Roseanne Francen and Kathleen Salado), authorization for a community block party in King’s Estates to launch high‑speed fiber internet, approval of special events (a music festival fundraiser, car show and anniversary party), appointment of a part‑time dial‑a‑bus driver (Bennett, pending county approval), authorization for the supervisor to sign a STOP‑DWI traffic safety contract with Orange County, and acceptance of a $15,700 bid for Mountain Lake Park pool fencing. The amendment to the dial‑a‑bus operator agreement was recorded as effective April 1, 2025.
Supervisor Dwire provided a multi‑topic report: state DOT work is advancing (a Homestead Village box culvert project is complete; Route 17A will have a closure between Larry's Deli and Warwick Country Club beginning June 19 with local access maintained), and the town’s 2026 paving program is scheduled to pave approximately 6.6 miles at a cost of roughly $912,000. He also said the town submitted three infrastructure projects to New York State’s Intended Use Plan (IUP): the Mountain Lake Park sewer project, the Pine Island Water Treatment Plant project, and a townwide lead service line replacement program; the Pine Island well project is awaiting final DEC approval.
Other department reports included a police update announcing Junior Police Academy openings and a K9 team national certification, DPW updates on catch basin and ditch work and storm repairs, water/sewer maintenance and meter reads, and recreation programming (pool hours, a June 24 ribbon cutting and upcoming festivals).
The board closed routine business, left the Kings Highway zoning public hearing open, and scheduled the next board meeting for June 25, which will include additional public hearings.
