Committee advances draft ordinance edits; member seeks bar on benefits for code-violating properties

Clifford Jarrett reported that Chapters 7 through 13 of the draft ordinance have been completed and said he will clean and edit the prior chapters and make them available for Linda and Joe to review. Randy Duncan proposed a correction to Draft Ordinance Section 7 to specify that buildings still in code violation or owing money to the township should not receive township financial benefits.
Members did not vote on the correction at the May 4 meeting; the change was proposed for incorporation as the draft is edited and reviewed. Committee members indicated additional review will follow once the edited draft is circulated.
