The Lake County 911 Authority announced Jan. 9 that Daniela Duran Gonzalez was selected as Dispatcher of the Year and that Mary was selected as Call Taker of the Year.
Sarah said Daniela was nominated by multiple colleagues for consistently covering shifts, helping first responders and taking on responsibility since hiring. The group selected Mary for Call Taker of the Year after reviewing her handling of a drowning call; staff applauded Mary’s calm and clear management of the call, including explaining why EMD instructions were not provided during that particular incident.
The awards were to be presented that evening during the sheriff’s office year-end celebration at The Freight; presenters planned short remarks explaining the selections.
