Hancock County supervisors approve nuisance-abatement notice, reminder letters and authorize payment of claims

At its June 1, 2026 meeting in Garner, the Hancock County Board of Supervisors approved a series of nuisance enforcement steps and authorized payment of county claims. Supervisor Gary Rayhons moved to serve an abatement notice under Nuisance Ordinance No. 7 to the owner of 1430 234th Street in Britt; Supervisor Florence (Sis) Greiman seconded the motion. The motion carried with Greiman and Rayhons voting aye and Osmund "Bud" Jermeland recorded as abstaining because of a relative.
The board, again on motion by Rayhons seconded by Greiman and carried unanimously, also authorized sending a reminder letter under Ordinance No. 7 to the landowner at 1441 234th Street, Britt, and approved letters granting extensions to 2865 Oak Avenue, Garner and 2857 Orr Avenue, Garner.
Separately, on motion by Supervisor Greiman, seconded by Supervisor Rayhons and carried, the Board authorized the County Auditor to issue checks for claims on file for June 1. The minutes state that a full listing of all claims paid in June 2026 will be published in the June 15, 2026 minutes.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:14 a.m.; the minutes record the Board will meet again on June 8, 2026. The minutes are attested by County Auditor Michelle K. Eisenman and Chair Osmund "Bud" Jermeland.
