San Jacinto County commissioners approved accepting additional short segments of county roadway and awarded three construction contracts for community development grant roadwork after reviewing bids.
The chief appraiser and precinct staff explained that a historical boundary discrepancy required accepting approximately 1,720 feet of additional county roadway (and smaller segments) into county maintenance responsibility; commissioners voted to accept the mileage and update county records.
Following bid openings for CDBG construction packages, the court awarded three contracts: package 10 (Lake View Estates) to Texas Materials for approximately $926,596; package 7 (precinct 3 roadway improvements) to Texas Materials for approximately $496,967.39; and package 5 (Hickman Creek and Horseshoe Way improvements) to Smith for approximately $457,823. Commissioners asked staff to confirm bonding and insurance documents and noted one bidder had bond paperwork still outstanding; staff were directed to obtain final bonds and certificates before issuing notices to proceed.
The court approved the awards by roll call and instructed project managers to coordinate preconstruction meetings, confirm contractor insurance and bonding, and return a schedule of work and a notice‑to‑proceed timeline to the court. Commissioners also authorized advertisement of an additional set of CDBG construction packages (6, 8 and 9) for other road segments, which the court approved.
