Personnel Committee approves multiple grant resolutions, sewer repairs and authorizes executive session

The Washington County Personnel Committee on June 11 approved a slate of resolutions and then voted to enter executive session to discuss labor negotiations and confidential litigation/personnel matters.

Resolutions approved by voice vote included: - Resolution A: authorize the submittal to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for a water‑quality improvement grant (moved by Sam). - Resolution B: acceptance of the Sheriff’s L grant (moved by Dave). - Resolution C: acceptance of a justice grant for bulletproof vests (moved by Lamb; discussion noted the department often does not expend the full grant amount and that the grant is reimbursement‑based). - Resolution D: county health mini‑grant (moved by Dave).

Committee members discussed fund‑balance and reimbursement mechanics for grants and noted that multi‑year grants can be subject to timing issues; one member said the $35,000 estimate for body‑armor replacement could in practice be smaller or zero depending on replacement needs.

The committee also approved funding for Sewer District No.2 UV equipment repair and a capital project for the Drifting Ridge/Argyle Street pump station, and approved personnel salary items and a resolution authorizing Al to sign financing documents for a recap/build project.

Finally, the committee voted to enter executive session to address collective negotiations under Article 14 of the Civil Service Law (the Taylor Law) and to discuss pending litigation and sensitive medical/financial details of a particular person. The executive session motion was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.

What’s next: staff will proceed with the grant submittals and project authorizations and the committee moved into executive session for the stated purposes.
