Bloomville police report new vehicle radar, gear purchases and training compliance

At the Jan. 7 Bloomville Village Council meeting, Chief Dwight Dyer reviewed recent equipment purchases and staffing administrative steps for the police department.
Dyer said the village purchased radar equipment for the department's new vehicle; installation will occur when the Crown Victoria returns from upfitting. He noted the radar quotes were provided to the fiscal officer and will be paid from prior-year budget allocations; the meeting record also noted an aside reserving $10,000 for a cruiser.
The department replaced outdated winter coats and purchased new boots to ensure proper fit for officers. Dyer said six Taser cartridges were purchased and that the department completed its required annual training for 2026; training records were uploaded to the state and the department is in compliance. He told the council that year-end 2025 statistics will be provided at the next meeting and, going forward, statistics will be presented at the second meeting each month.
Dyer also discussed obtaining photo ID credentials for officers for identification purposes, including while out of state or off duty. The Billing Clerk is assisting with the ID process using a template-based system.
No formal council action on police purchases was recorded in the public minutes during the meeting.
