Middle Park Fair & Rodeo board finalizes schedule, pushes concert promotion and superintendent walkthrough

The Middle Park Fair & Rodeo board met June 8 at the Fairgrounds Extension Hall to confirm final preparations for this summer’s fair and to step up promotion for an Aug. 1 concert. President David Buckley said the fair is less than two months away and reminded members that a superintendent barn walkthrough is scheduled for June 22 at 5:30 p.m., starting in the Exhibit Hall.
Buckley said the board has scheduled a final fair board meeting and the Sale Committee meeting for July 13, and held July 22 in reserve in case another meeting is needed before the fair. He also said the board is aiming to sell at least 500 concert tickets priced at $40 for anyone older than 5.
Karrah Shearer, the MPFR fair coordinator, said the fair will have a booth at Kremmling Days where concert tickets will be available via QR code, and requested volunteers and donations of used kid ropes for dummy‑roping demonstrations. She confirmed that all fair judges have been secured and said she is awaiting an estimate for judges’ hotel rooms from the Allington (approximately $4,500, plus mileage). Shearer also noted scale certification is scheduled for June 16 and asked that scales be secured during the 3R’s jackpot event.
Sidney Pryor, the CSU Extension Agent, told the board that entries close July 16 and introduced a new 4‑H Hall of Fame nomination process requested by the Grand County Commissioners; a Google form will be made available for nominations. Pryor said two grant applications have been submitted (to the Grand Foundation and the Grand County Tourism board) for marketing materials and that award decisions are pending.
The board closed the meeting by confirming parade logistics for a community Tuesday parade (which will include the Buffalo Soldiers, elected officials and a cattle drive element) and reminding members of the superintendent walkthrough and the July meeting schedule.
