BPA president: move $15.44 sewer charge to capital improvements; 26 properties to be reviewed

Logan Reinhart, identified in the transcript as BPA president, told the Village Council on Feb. 4 that the $15.44 debt-service charge that has appeared on sewer bills since a 2007 construction loan will be re-designated as a capital improvement fee because the original loan has been satisfied.
Reinhart said there are 26 properties currently not being assessed the charge that will be reviewed and added where applicable, noting that sewer service can remain connected even when water service is inactive. He said the change will direct the $15.44 toward capital improvement and future sewer infrastructure projects and that affected property owners will receive communications explaining the change and advising them of meeting dates to ask questions. He also encouraged the public to attend BPA meetings.
Reinhart additionally reported another water tower leak and stated that ongoing failures in the aging tower provide further reason to move the charge into a capital improvement line. Council agreed that the affected property owners should be notified and that the list of properties would be reviewed.
