Bloomville council awards trash contract to local Hoffbauer Disposal Service

Bloomville’s Village Council voted unanimously Feb. 4 to contract with Hoffbauer Disposal Service to provide residential trash collection beginning April 1, 2026.
The move replaces service under the current Rumpke contract, which expires in March. Council member Rick Franklin moved to award the contract and Carol Adams seconded; the motion carried 6-0.
Hoffbauer representatives Ashley Hoffbauer and Travis Hoffbauer told the council their plan offers weekly and bi-weekly pickup, resident-provided totes (with case-by-case assistance for residents who cannot roll them out), online bill-pay options and an optional annual bulk pickup service. They emphasized their local, family-owned status and customer communications via website, voicemail and social media. Blake of Rumpke told the council service delays during recent snow events have been resolved and presented renewal pricing that would include a monthly increase.
Council discussion centered on price comparisons, contract length (a two-year term was discussed), truck size and roadway wear, and operational logistics for rolling out totes to households. After the vote, council asked staff to prepare communications for residents detailing the service transition and pricing.
Council documentation shows the contract with Hoffbauer takes effect April 1, 2026; specific resident rates and any introductory credits will be posted in the transition notice to households.
