Bloomville council appoints two residents to fill open seats; Sonya Larson named pro tempore

At its Jan. 21 meeting Bloomville Village Council appointed Rick Franklin and Sherry Bean to open seats, approved routine minutes and warrants, and elected Sonya Larson council president pro tempore; all recorded votes on those items were unanimous (4-0).
The Bloomville Village Council appointed two residents to fill open seats and chose a council pro tempore during its Jan. 21 meeting.
Rick Franklin was nominated by Council member Sonya Larson and seconded by Carol Adams; the appointment passed on a 4-0 vote. Sherry Bean was nominated by Amanda Essary, seconded by Larson, and also confirmed 4-0. Mayor David O. Auble said the appointees would be sworn in promptly.
Before the appointments, the council unanimously approved the minutes from the Jan. 7, 2025 meeting after a motion from Carol Adams, seconded by Sonya Larson, and later approved the warrants on a motion from Tabitha Sorg, seconded by Amanda Essary; both votes were 4-0.
Council also elected Sonya Larson as Council President Pro Tempore for 2026; Larson was nominated by Adams and seconded by Essary and the motion passed 4-0. The council approved installation of requested handicap parking signage; the transcript records that approval was given but does not provide a mover, seconder or roll-call tally for that item.
Mayor Auble reviewed planned administrative steps, including an end-of-year fund-balance spreadsheet he is preparing for Council showing year-over-year comparisons. The meeting concluded with announcements about upcoming community events and reminders of the council's next regular meeting on Feb. 4, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Village Hall.
