Bolivar library reports strong summer turnout; village plans tree replacements and extra zoning meetings

The Bolivar Branch Library reported robust summer attendance and program participation; council members also discussed replacing removed trees with smaller varieties in spring and agreed to temporarily increase zoning meeting frequency to complete code revisions.
Courtney Wallace, Bolivar Branch Library supervisor, told the council the library’s 25th birthday celebration drew about 180 people and staff logged 2,740 hours of reading in June and July. Wallace said the library hosted 43 programs over the summer that together attracted 1,073 attendees.
Council and staff discussed a persistent problem of dog waste on library grounds; Loretta asked whether an outdoor trash can was available, and the village agreed to install signage that cites the applicable ordinance to encourage cleanup. Wallace praised staff and volunteers for repainting the library sign.
Shade Tree Committee Chair Dan Oberlin said the village plans to purchase smaller replacement trees in the spring to restore the village canopy where trees were removed. Council also agreed to increase the frequency of zoning committee meetings to twice a month for the next few months so the committee can methodically review and recommend code changes; the next zoning meeting is Sept. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
White and Lloyd said they will begin taking a sidewalk-replacement contract to interested residents for discussion; three interviews have been held for the Street Superintendent opening.
