Audubon approves traffic-code changes and routine resolutions; Moms Demand Action outlines BE SMART outreach

The Borough of Audubon Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Ordinance 2023-04 (amending Chapter 62, Traffic and Vehicles) at its May 16, 2023 meeting. Commissioner Whitman moved approval, Commissioner Lee seconded, and the ordinance passed by unanimous roll-call vote after a second-reading public hearing that produced no public comment.
The board also approved routine Resolution 2023-79, authorizing payment of bills for May 2023 (motion by Commissioner Lee, seconded by Commissioner Whitman), and Resolution 2023-80, declaring the first Friday in June to be National Gun Violence Awareness Day in the borough (motion by Commissioner Whitman, seconded by Commissioner Lee). Both resolutions passed by unanimous roll-call votes.
During commissioner comments, Commissioner Lee addressed resident concerns about PSEG filling trenches with concrete, explaining that "concrete is not the final step. That concrete needs to settle and then they will mill and pave." The mayor provided additional community announcements, including the borough's planned outreach on lead-pipe identification and a Pride-month kickoff event on June 7 in Barrington at Chuck Lager's.
In public comment Leslie Kirsch and other members of the Moms Demand Action Committee said they would provide further information and presentations to interested residents about the BE SMART campaign; they noted presentations are available in person or via Zoom. The group was thanked by the board for its work on gun safety information.
