Bolivar approves tree-removal bid, advances street and festival preparations

The Bolivar Village Council approved a $2,225 bid from Petraca Landscape Inc. to remove four trees in the village after Street Superintendent Rod presented the estimate. The motion was moved by Pancoe, seconded by White and carried by roll call of present members.
Street & Alley committee Chair White briefed council on several maintenance items: replacement of street lights near 149 Bolivar Street and 672 Ladyne Avenue (residents will be asked via a water-bill notice to report nonworking lights), an asphalt patch needed on Park Avenue north of Poplar, and continued work to install lighted stop signs. White also noted previously approved street closings for Christmas on the Canal.
The Bolivar Main Street Association arranged for AEP to install a temporary power pole at the northeast corner of Sassafras and Cherry to provide event power for festivals, a coordination item for future public events.
