Bolivar council adopts two ordinances, appoints members to Police Dependents Fund board

The Bolivar Village Council voted unanimously on July 11 to adopt two ordinances and to appoint council members to the Police Dependents Fund board.
On a third reading the council approved Ordinance 15-2024, which appoints two council members to serve on the board for the Police Dependents Fund pursuant to revised code section 143.02. The motion to approve was made by Bellinger and seconded by White; roll call votes were all yes. Council then moved, seconded and approved appointing Pancoe and Bellinger to the board.
Council also approved Ordinance 16-2024, which repeals Ordinance 14-2024 and authorizes a contract with G-works for water billing software services; the ordinance was declared an emergency and passed on a unanimous roll-call vote after a motion by Bellinger and second by White.
Council reviewed but did not finalize at this meeting two items on second reading: a temporary permission resolution for picnic tables and benches at 157 Canal Street and an ordinance allowing the Bolivar Main Street Association to place a shed on village property. Solicitor Steve Babik advised that the picnic-table permission would require annual renewal but can be terminated by the council at any time.
The council adjourned at 7:55 p.m. and will reconvene on August 1, 2024.
