Bolivar switches to county water; RCAP to canvass service lines and hydrant flushing planned

The Village of Bolivar began purchasing water from the county on Nov. 7, Mayor Robert Lloyd told council, and the village will flush hydrants after addressing a few outstanding issues. Lloyd said hydrant flushing had been expected sooner but a more realistic timeline for flushing is the week of Nov. 18; the village will notify residents with posted signs and a One Call alert.
Separately, Lloyd said representatives from RCAP will canvass the village the week of Nov. 11 to determine the material used for household water service lines. With homeowner permission, canvassers may enter homes to inspect the service line; absent homeowners will receive a survey to return to Village Hall.
A council member (Chuck) noted some unresolved issues that need addressing before flushing begins, prompting the slight schedule change. No water-quality advisories were announced at the meeting.
