Calhoun County supervisors approve Region V STBG grant application for D36 PCC overlay and several routine items

The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously March 11 to approve Resolution 2025-03, authorizing the county to apply for Region V Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) funds to support the D36 PCC overlay project and committing to provide required matching funds and to maintain the completed project for at least 20 years. Nick Buse, Calhoun/Sac County Engineer, presented the resolution and the board approved a motion by Scott Jacobs, seconded by Cory Ridgely, to adopt it and authorize the engineer to sign the application if the project is selected for federal funding.
The resolution, as presented, endorses the D36 PCC Overlay as the proposed STBG-eligible project, commits the county to provide matching funds as required by the Region V program and requires the county to maintain the completed work for a minimum of 20 years. The board’s action does not itself award grant funds; it authorizes submission of an application and the county’s commitment should federal funding be granted.
During the same session the board reviewed and allowed the claims register (checks 78846–78939 and bank drafts DFT0004811–0004824). The board also approved Drainage Work Order C-05-2025 and Pocahontas County Drainage Work Order 2624 related to Joint Drainage District 46 (POC–88 CAL). Each of those motions carried on unanimous voice votes.
The board approved a liquor license for Traditions at the Little Store, effective May 1, 2025, through April 30, 2026. Motions to approve the agenda and to adopt the minutes of the prior meeting were also passed earlier in the session. No members of the public spoke during the public-comment period.
The board set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. The full claims register and certified minutes are available in the auditor’s office upon request.
