ROCKWELL CITY, Iowa — The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors voted Feb. 25 to adopt a series of wage adjustments for fiscal year 2025–26 affecting elected officials and county staff.
On a motion by Scott Jacobs, seconded by Cory Ridgely, the board approved the Compensation Board’s recommendations and additional employee increases as recorded in the meeting minutes. The Compensation Board had met Dec. 18, 2024 and recommended a 2% increase for the Board of Supervisors with a $500 stipend for the chair, and recommended raises for elected officials. At the Feb. 25 meeting the board approved the following as recorded: a 2% increase for supervisors plus a $500 chair stipend as recommended; a 3.5% increase for the county sheriff; a 3.5% increase for elected officials (county auditor, county treasurer and county recorder); and pay adjustments for employees described in the minutes as “full time employees of $1,500.00 + 1%.” Part‑time employees and supervisors were set at 3% in the action recorded in the minutes.
The motion was recorded as carried with all members voting in the affirmative. The minutes do not specify whether the $1,500 plus 1% for full‑time employees is a flat one‑time payment plus a percentage base increase, or how it will be prorated for part‑year hires; the record lists the figure without further implementation detail.
The board did not alter the acting county attorney’s salary, which the minutes state was left unchanged per the Compensation Board recommendation.
