River Ridge supervisor James Gilman resigns; board to solicit candidates for Seat 1

The River Ridge Community Development District Board accepted the resignation of Supervisor James Gilman (Seat 1, term expires Nov. 2026) at its Aug. 27 meeting and discussed the process for filling the unexpired term.

Mrs. Adams presented Mr. Gilman’s resignation letter. Board members noted that Mr. Gilman had represented The Meadows for eight years; the board agreed to have Mr. Long and The Meadows’ property-owner association manager e-blast residents about the vacancy, outline candidate qualification requirements and ask interested candidates to submit resumes or letters of interest before the next meeting. Because the appointment will fill the unexpired term rather than trigger an election, the board will include the received materials on the next agenda for consideration.

On a motion by Supervisor Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Supervisor Robert Twombly, the board voted to accept Mr. Gilman’s resignation "with all in favor." The board also noted that oath-of-office materials, required ethics training and disclosure filing information will be provided to any appointee.

Next steps: staff will solicit candidate materials, include them on the next agenda, and the board will consider appointment to fill Seat 1.
