Wyoming Bar prepares rules and timing for NextGen bar exam transition

Bar Counsel Mark W. Gifford told the Wyoming State Bar Board on April 24 that staff and the Board of Law Examiners are preparing rule amendments and coordination with the Wyoming Supreme Court for the transition to the NextGen Bar Exam in July 2027.
Gifford said the Court and the Bar are discussing an appropriate cut score for Wyoming and when the state will accept score transfers from other NextGen jurisdictions. He reported that substantive rule amendments were necessary to accommodate NextGen and that he expected to file the proposed changes with the Court the following week.
Executive Director Sharon Wilkinson added that 66 applicants are scheduled to sit for the July exam. Gifford also noted a Character and Fitness Committee hearing had been scheduled but the applicant withdrew his application.
The board did not take action beyond noting the filings and coordination with the Court; Gifford emphasized the need for timely rule amendments to assure applicant notice and proper administration of the new exam format.
