Horsham Council introduces draft noise ordinance, schedules July 8 public hearing

Horsham Township Council voted unanimously on June 10 to introduce an ordinance that would add Chapter 153 (Noise) to the township code and scheduled a public hearing for Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Horsham Township Municipal Building, 1025 Horsham Road.

Council said the draft reflects input from the public, the police and code enforcement, and outside consultants. The presenter told the council the ordinance is a consolidated product of that feedback and that staff and the solicitor worked to balance differing views; council did not discuss the ordinance line‑by‑line at the meeting but instead moved to introduce it and set the hearing date.

The motion to introduce the ordinance passed on a roll‑call vote with the four members present each answering "I." The chair said the public hearing on July 8 will be the opportunity for the township to explain the draft and take questions and comments.

If adopted after the public hearing and any further council action, the ordinance would establish the township's noise standards and enforcement procedures in a new Chapter 153 of the Horsham Township Code. The council has not yet adopted final regulatory language and indicated that the July 8 session will include a presentation of the draft and responses to public questions.

The council encouraged residents with specific concerns to attend the July 8 hearing or to contact township staff in advance.
