Board hears Wyoming State Fair update, readies visitor guides and Glenrock visitor center grand opening

Converse County Tourism Promotion Board members received updates on state fair advocacy, visitor-center openings and tourism marketing at the Feb. 17 meeting in Glenrock.
Kota Provence of the Wyoming State Fair reported that the Silver Arena and two additional staff positions were reintroduced to legislators by Senators Strock and Boner. No further legislative outcomes were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The Douglas Visitor Center did not provide a report; the minutes note Jenna Rose was out of town. Jen Goodwin from Enterprise/Main Street described summer event planning, noting the Wyoming State Fair parade theme, “250 Years of Trail Blazing Spirit,” and a Douglas town decorating contest running July 1 through the fair with judging and prizes.
Candace Benedetta described a ribbon cutting at the Glenrock Visitor Center and confirmed its grand opening set for Saturday, Feb. 21. Sagebrush Marketing’s Jen Womack said visitor guides will be picked up on Friday, promotional materials are ready for GovCon, and the board approved commissioning an artwork map by Bruce Speidel for $3,500 to use in promotional displays.
Administrator Cathy Feezer-Jones said GovCon plans are finalized and she has entered 60 Converse County events into the Wyoming Tourism portal to support outreach. Under old business, the board reviewed a memorandum of understanding for placement and upkeep of Jack and Hare’ett at Gate 3 of the Wyoming State Fair that is ready for signatures. By-laws review was noted as pending and to be scheduled with the board retreat.
New business included review of the Zartico quarterly report and plans to coordinate with the county historical-signs group on signage. No public comments were recorded. The board entered executive session from 7:20–7:45 p.m. and adjourned at 7:51 p.m.
