Company expresses interest in Antelope Refinery; commissioners say formal application required

A representative of WR Hauling LLC presented to the Board of Commissioners information about the company’s interest in acquiring the Antelope Refinery facility. County Treasurer Joel Schell and commissioners explained that industrial revenue bonds would require a formal application and that IRBs are not county-funded debt; the county’s role would be an approval-through-county pathway rather than a direct funding source. Commissioners said they were generally pleased to see interest in the facility but would need a formal application, ownership information and a presentation to determine whether to proceed.
The board provided informational responses and no formal action was taken on the matter during the meeting.
