The Converse County Tourism Promotion Board on Feb. 17 approved three tourism grants to support summer events and voted to commission an artwork map for county promotion.
The board approved a $1,193.38 grant to The Enterprise for Jackalope Days (moved by John Rabun; seconded by Jane Garber), a $1,442 grant to Glenrock Sheepherder’s Rendezvous (moved by Candace Benedetta; seconded by Kris Mitchell), and a $5,770 grant to the Wyoming Quarter Horse Association for the Cowboy Summer Classic (moved by John Rabun; seconded by Kris Mitchell). In each case the meeting record states the motion carried; the transcript does not record individual roll-call tallies.
Board members also voted to commission a county artwork map painted by Bruce Speidel of Crook County for promotional use. Jane Garber moved to accept the first artwork option for $3,500; Vicki Widiker seconded and the motion carried.
The approvals come as the board and its contractors prepare promotional materials for the GovCon trade show and the summer events calendar. Administrator Cathy Feezer-Jones later reported that 60 Converse County events have been entered into the Wyoming Tourism portal to support marketing efforts.
The board took the votes during routine agenda business and did not record a roll-call vote tally in the public minutes. The meeting adjourned at 7:51 p.m.; the board’s next scheduled meeting is March 24, 2026, at the KOA in Douglas.
