At its April 10 meeting, the Village of Northfield Regular Council approved Resolution No. 2024-11, authorizing Mayor Jenn Domzalski to enter into a standard AIA owner and design‑builder agreement with S & S Interiors, Inc. for the design and construction of a new Village Hall and administration building.
Councilmember Alan Hipps moved to suspend the three‑reading rule and Kevin Lewis seconded; the motion passed on a roll‑call vote. Hipps then moved to adopt the resolution and Lewis seconded; the council approved the legislation on a roll‑call vote with Jesse Ferko, Renell Noack, Nick Magistrelli, Alan Hipps and Kevin Lewis voting yes.
The vote follows brief discussion of how the administration building timeline might affect plans for a new police facility. Councilmember Nick Magistrelli asked how the project will affect timing for a police station. Law Director Brad Bryan said his understanding is that the administration building would be completed before a police station project commenced. Engineer Dan Collins projected the current completion date for the administration building as the fall of 2025. Mayor Jenn Domzalski said she hopes planning and design for a new police station can start while the administration building is under construction so demolition of the existing Village Hall can allow the police project to proceed.
The council did not specify contract numbers or a budget breakdown in the meeting minutes; copies of the full AIA agreement and supporting documents were made available to council as part of the agenda packet. The resolution was recorded as approved; next steps are expected to follow the design‑builder schedule and any required permitting or pre‑construction activities.
The council took no additional formal action on the police station at the meeting.
