Human Rights Commission certifies closed session complied with Code of Virginia, then adjourns

A commissioner moved that the Human Rights Commission "certify that at the just concluded closed session only public matter business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements under chapter 37 title 2.2 of the Code of Virginia and number two only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the proposed meeting was convened or heard discussed or considered by the human rights commission." The chair then asked each commissioner to confirm the accuracy of that statement.

Beginning with Commissioner Gajahar, the commissioners responded in turn: "Yes," from Commissioner Gajahar, Commissioner Davis, Commissioner McGomery, Commissioner Cotton and Commissioner Gibson. After the roll call confirmation, the chair announced the meeting had returned to public session and called the open forum; the chair said there were no speakers present for the open forum.

A commissioner moved to adjourn and another seconded. The chair called for a voice vote, asked "All in favor?", and then declared, "motion passes." The chair closed by thanking attendees and saying the commission will meet next month.

The meeting included a formal certification of the closed session’s compliance with the Code of Virginia (Chapter 37, Title 2.2), a roll-call confirmation of that certification, a public-session open forum with no speakers, and a subsequent adjournment.
