Commission forwards Johnny Valley PRD sewage planning module to applicant for DEP filing after water-provider change

The Smithfield Township Planning Commission approved a motion to forward a completed planning-module form back to the Johnny Valley PRD applicant so it can be included in the applicant's submission to the Department of Environmental Protection.
Staff said the sewer provider for the development changed when Pennsylvania American Water acquired the previous company, and the applicant must submit a planning module to the DEP for review and approval. The township engineer had filled out component 4A on the applicant's behalf where permitted; staff described that component as a routine, checkbox-style affirmation that the proposal conforms with the township comprehensive plan.
Commission discussion cited an Eburg Engineering letter attached to the materials that states the interceptor pump station has a permitted capacity of 157 gallons per minute (226,080 gallons per day) and that the project segment described in the filing would use 53,766 gallons per day, about 24% of the permitted capacity. Commissioners noted the DEP will review capacity and usage details as part of its technical review.
A commissioner moved that the completed planning-module form, as prepared by township staff/engineer, be returned to the applicant for inclusion in the DEP application; the motion was seconded by Doug and approved by voice vote. Staff said DEP review may generate comments the applicant must address and that the township would be copied on any DEP correspondence.
