Township planning staff member Billy told the commission the draft mostly rearranges existing language to make requirements clearer and that "the application is now free. There's no more fee." Commissioners said the change aligns the permit language with planned updates to the transient business ordinance.
A commissioner moved to recommend approval of the draft to the board of supervisors and a colleague seconded. The commission approved the recommendation by voice vote.
The change would leave the underlying transient business and zoning rules intact while offering a separate, fee-free permit process for events that are not regular uses of a property, such as fireworks at Shawnee Mountain. The commission did not set an effective date; the recommendation now goes to the board of supervisors for consideration.
