Town Meeting adds $25,000 for senior center electricity; capital projects remain unscheduled

At the May 13 meeting of the Chelmsford Council on Aging Board, Director Debi Siriani reported that Town Meeting approved an additional $25,000 to cover electricity costs at the Chelmsford Senior Center for the fiscal year.
Siriani said she has encumbered capital‑budget funds for projects that were approved but not completed within the fiscal year so that remaining funds will carry forward to finish the work. She listed several projects being managed by the Department of Public Works—new awnings, acoustical treatments in Brigham Hall, painting the main hallway, and new flooring in the main hallway and Brigham Hall—but said there is no schedule for any of those projects yet.
Separately, Siriani and board member Steve Maffetone met with the Tax Assessor’s office to request an extension of the earning period for tax‑rebate workers from eight to nine months; the request was denied by the Assessor.
The board recorded no vote on the capital projects’ schedules during the meeting. No dollar amounts beyond the $25,000 electricity allocation were provided in the meeting minutes.
