During new business at the June 1 Village of Freeburg Board meeting, Ellen Woehrmann, a representative of the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA), presented the organization’s scholarship to local student Grace Huddleston. Mayor Seth Speiser and multiple trustees offered congratulations to Huddleston and to local youth sports teams in remarks that followed.
Village Administrator Matt Trout noted there were 51 students entered for the scholarship competition. Trustees and staff—naming several by role—expressed their support for the student and the community’s programs before the meeting moved on to committee reports and other agenda items.
The presentation was described in the meeting minutes as the first time in nearly a decade that a Freeburg student won the IMEA scholarship.
