Town administrator reports end to chlorination, bridge setback; roads board recommends merger into Public Works Board

Administrator Aitken told the council on Jan. 14 that the town plans to stop chlorinating its water supply by the end of January and that the town is prepared for the change.
Aitken also reported a construction setback on the Middle Branch Bridge when crews struck a water main; an agreement was reached that relocating the water line will wait until spring. First Response's building siding is pending materials, and the Building Official is working to bring three-phase power to the Public Works building. Aitken said Avail will remove material from 50 White Pine and sell it to recoup costs. He also noted plans to schedule a council retreat after Feb. 4 once the newly sworn council and mayor are in place.
In board reports, the Roads Advisory Board urged the council to table the third reading of an unspecified ordinance until the council considers converting the Roads Board into a combined Public Works Board that would merge road and water board responsibilities. Council members said the decision on that reorganization will be taken at the regular meeting.
Councilman Ellis also raised concerns about the enforceability of a proposed animals ordinance and asked for clarification.
