Mr. Bell, chairman of the Travel and Tourism Board, told the Town Council on Jan. 14 that the board recommends using the lodging-tax revenue approved in November to support a grant application the board has developed, to fund improvements to the town entrance and to establish a reserve for future partnership opportunities.
Council members signaled informal agreement and allowed the board to proceed with vetting the grant application and presenting a final item for council approval later. Mr. Bell also noted the Travel and Tourism Board currently has a vacancy and said the board will continue to coordinate with staff on budget and planning.
The council did not vote on a specific appropriation at the work session; the board will return with a formal proposal for council action when vetting is complete.
