New playground installed at Memorial Park; cabin renovation bid pending

Director Dan Hoock reported at the June 9 meeting that a new playground has been installed at Memorial Park, located adjacent to the park’s new bathrooms and the band shell. Commissioner Christine Maurice asked about the choice of equipment colors; Hoock said the colors were those selected by the procurement process.
Hoock also noted several fresh piles of dirt near the sledding hill and said the grounds crew is expected to address them during the summer months. He said he is awaiting a bid from an architect for proposed renovations to the park cabin; Commissioner Jim Battaglia asked whether the bid would include a working costs estimate and Hoock said it should.
Hoock explained the park grass was cut late because recent heavy rain had made the grounds too soft for mowers.
The commission did not take a formal vote on these items; staff will follow up on the cabin bid and routine maintenance tasks.
