Gates Recreation Commission votes to suspend July and August meetings

The Gates Recreation and Parks Commission voted unanimously on June 9 to suspend its regular July and August meetings. Commissioner Jim Battaglia made the motion, and Commissioner Christine Maurice seconded; the motion passed without objection.
At the start of the meeting Commissioners accepted the May 12 minutes. Commissioner Jim Battaglia moved that the minutes be accepted "as written," John Unson seconded, and the commission recorded a unanimous vote to approve the document. Director Dan Hoock said the financial report was not available for the meeting and will be distributed to commissioners when it is ready.
Commissioner Brom Bianchi moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:01 PM; Commissioner John Unson seconded and the motion carried. Unless changed, the commission’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, at 3 PM at Town Hall, subject to facility availability. Commission Secretary Valerie Young will circulate updates and reports over the summer while regular meetings are paused.
