Oak Park advisory council backs $15,000 to help fund Area Plan update for cell‑tower standards

The Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council voted unanimously at its May 24 meeting to recommend adding $15,000 to the Community Service Area (CSA) #4 draft budget for fiscal year 2011–2012 to pay 50 percent of the cost of an Oak Park Area Plan amendment to establish standards for cellular and satellite facilities.
The first motion to recommend the $15,000 addition passed 4‑0. Mike Mc Reynolds made the motion and Derek Ross seconded; council members Michael Paule, Alon Glickstein, Mike Mc Reynolds and Derek Ross voted in favor. The council then voted 4‑0 to recommend adoption of the CSA #4 draft budget as presented by Ventura County Public Works, including the $15,000 addition; that motion was made by Michael Paule and seconded by Alon Glickstein.
In a companion action, the MAC voted 4‑0 to add a category to extend CSA #4 services to include County of Ventura Planning Division work so the county planner can perform the Area Plan amendment. Michael Paule made the motion and Alon Glickstein seconded.
Supervisor Linda Parks, who attended the meeting, said she had continued her separate board agenda item proposing an Oak Park Area Plan update so the council could await recommendations from the countywide Planning Department standards project before finalizing local standards. She also told the MAC the Board of Supervisors was continuing budget presentations countywide and that departments were seeking creative ways to avoid program or staffing cuts in the coming fiscal year.
The recommended motions are advisory recommendations from the MAC to county decision‑makers; the transcript records the MAC votes and will be forwarded to county staff for inclusion in fiscal and planning deliberations. The MAC left other agenda items — including the proposed MAC meeting schedule and a proposed subcommittee for the "Every 15 Minutes" program — continued to the June meeting. The council adjourned at 9:30 p.m.; it set the next meeting for June 28.
