Neighborhood Council #7 met June 8, 2026 in the Gibson Room at the Great Falls Civic Center and covered committee updates, neighborhood concerns and scheduling.
Chair Trevor Mikkelsen opened the meeting, roll call established a quorum, and the council approved the May minutes as amended. Committee reports included a Downtown Development Partnership update on lighting upgrades for parking garages and Mural Alley, scheduled public events including Great Walls (Aug. 16–22) and several Night Markets, continued tree maintenance and sidewalk power washing, and an RFP being prepared for parking-fee technical improvements.
The Downtown Safety Alliance reported merchant outreach with new signage and handouts addressing transient-population interactions, ongoing Crisis Team training and work on additional funding, and that School Resource Officers would be on downtown streets next week.
During neighborhood issues, Council Member Bill Wadman reported ongoing rodent problems in Gibson Park and characterized the condition as still a significant concern. Sandra (Sandy) Rice noted that a yard cleanup at the corner of 4th Avenue South and 14th Street had been moved from the grass area into the garage and driveway. Resident Doug McElroy, returning to the city after 20 years away, remarked on welcome progress.
Sandra Rice moved that the July Neighborhood Council #7 meeting be canceled because several council members were likely to be absent and a quorum would not be available; the motion passed unanimously. The council set its next meeting for Monday, Aug. 10, 2026 at the Great Falls Civic Center and adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
The meeting minutes record no votes on ordinances or spending appropriations.
