Hooker County reviews bridge inspection, solicits bids for used scraper and reviews road budget

The Hooker County Board of Commissioners reviewed a bridge inspection report on May 14 and concluded the bridge is sound. The board asked staff to provide a copy of the inspection’s work-needed list to Mike Baum for follow-up action.
Rob Bassett spoke to the commissioners about an available used scraper; the commissioners expressed interest and directed County Clerk Jessica Hampton to solicit bids for scrapers of similar age and function. The board set a timetable to open those bids at the June 11, 2026 meeting.
Commissioners also reviewed road department expenditures and the road budget during the meeting. As noted elsewhere in the minutes, the board approved a transfer of $100,000 from the General Fund to the Road Fund to support road work. No additional procurement decisions were finalized for road equipment during the session.
