Hooker County board accepts $143,500 property bid, approves transfers and employee-plan deductible

The Hooker County Board of Commissioners on May 14 accepted a $143,500 sealed bid for county-owned real estate and approved two transfers from the General Fund totaling $115,477.29 to support county operations.
Chairman Bryan Crisp moved to accept the highest of five sealed bids for the parcel; Commissioner Thad Emerson seconded and the motion carried on a roll-call vote of three ayes. The board also approved a $15,477.29 transfer to the Library Fund and a $100,000 transfer to the Road Fund after a motion from Emerson and a second from Commissioner Julie Kraye; that motion passed by roll call, three ayes.
During the meeting the commissioners reviewed a list of audited claims and voted to allow payment warrants from the county funds. The board also reviewed the county’s health insurance rates for 2026–2027 and voted to accept a $2,600 deductible for the employee-and-spouse Blue Cross Blue Shield plan and to continue the Dental PPO plan. Kraye moved and Crisp seconded; the measure passed by roll call with two ayes and one nay.
The board approved the treasurer’s report after a presentation by Treasurer Crystal Hardy; Kraye moved, Emerson seconded and the motion passed by roll call (three ayes). The meeting’s claims and fund listings for the General, Road, Library, LODGING TAX PROMO, Institutions and other funds were entered into the record.
The commissioners set the next regular meeting for June 11, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. and adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
