Botkins council approves sale of admin vehicle; South Street project set to begin in March

Village Administrator Randy Purdy told the council that the South Street reconstruction project is scheduled to begin in March, weather permitting, and that letters are being sent to residents who will be affected by phase one. Purdy said Phase II funding is currently with the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) and a funding decision is not expected until later in the spring.
Purdy proposed selling an unused Village administration vehicle to avoid ongoing insurance and maintenance costs and said the vehicle would be sold by sealed bid with notices posted on the Village’s social media and posting locations. Council approved the sale via sealed bid (motion: Jake Roberts; second: Christian Petek; vote recorded as unanimous).
Council was also told that the sale of land will open phase three of the Hageman development and that builders have expressed interest in constructing spec homes in phase two, potentially accelerating home construction in that area. The Village plans a public forum for the rescue district in coming months. No contracts, specific bidders or dollar amounts were recorded in the meeting minutes for these items.
